A unique one-day international event of talks, performances and a panel discussion to raise questions about the cities we are building today and their effect on our lives. There are four keynote speakers: leading world figures from Philosophy, Sociology, Architecture and the Arts.

Zygmunt Bauman
A philosopher and sociologist he is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Leeds and the University of Warsaw, a senior and widely published thinker whose recent books discuss the liquidity of life.

Saskia Sassen
Saskia Sassen is the Lynd Professor of Sociology at Columbia University after a decade at the University of Chicago and London School of Economics. Her recent books are Territory, Authority, Rights: From Medieval to Global Assemblages ( Princeton University Press 2006) and A Sociology of Globalization (Norton 2007).

Anthony Vidler
An architectural historian and critic he is Dean and Professor of Architecture at The Cooper Union School of Architecture whose book Warped Space - Art, Architecture and Anxiety in Modern Culture received wide critical acclaim.

Update Nov 14 : It is with great sadness that we heard on Tuesday that Anthony Vidler has been taken ill in New York and is unable to travel to Ireland to participate in bodytalkcity.

We would still like his involvement at some later stage in bodycity, as his practice and thoughts are so well placed questioning the junction of architecture and art. We hope to get an opportunity to bring him back to Dublin next year but in the meantime we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Paul Seawright
An artist and photographer, he has exhibited his work worldwide. He has often dealt with conflict situations including Northern Ireland and Afghanistan, he is Professor of Photography at the University of Ulster.
